Delivered from Demonic Bondage to a New Life in Jesus
My name is Bishnu Awasthi. I was born in 2038 B.S. (1982 A.D.) in Shilanga (Patan), Baitadi District, Nepal. I grew up in a family deeply devoted to traditional religious beliefs and practices. Because my grandfather was a renowned astrologer, many people came to him seeking insight into their future and spiritual guidance. As a result, our family environment was profoundly connected with spiritual and religious activities; these practices naturally became an integral part of my life from an early age.
However, amidst all these things, our family also carried deep pain and persistent struggles. My father suffered from a severe illness for more than three decades. At that time, we believed it was caused by witchcraft, evil spirits, or demonic influence. His condition brought immense fear, sorrow, and hopelessness into our home. Hoping for healing, we performed numerous religious rituals, traditional healing practices, and sacred ceremonies. We searched tirelessly for answers and relief in many places, but no real change came. These experiences filled my heart with heavy, unanswered questions about life, suffering, God, and truth.
From childhood, one question continually troubled my mind: if an object made of stone or wood is worshiped, what is its true meaning? It cannot speak, hear, or do anything by itself. How could such an object save me or truly change my life? These questions caused me to think deeply for many years. Outwardly, my life seemed normal, but inwardly there was constant restlessness, confusion, fear, loneliness, and emptiness. I was searching for the true God and genuine peace.
After completing my grade tenth study in 1998, a monumental turning point came in my life. Through my uncle, I heard about Jesus Christ for the first time. That day became a milestone because it brought a message of hope and grace. Gradually, I began to experience peace, love, and a clear new purpose in life. I started studying the Holy Bible and regularly attending Christian fellowship.
Over time, I became fully convinced that Jesus Christ is the one true God. Leaving everything behind, I placed my faith in Him. As I continued to grow spiritually, I began to understand more deeply the reality of human weakness, temptation, and the truth that no one is righteous before God. I realized that apart from God, there was nothing truly good in me. This realization brought me into deep spiritual struggle and genuine repentance.
”For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23
At times, I felt heavily burdened, yet my hope remained anchored in Jesus Christ, because He alone is my Savior. I continued seeking Him with all my heart.
The Significant Day
March 1, 2018 became the most significant day of my life. On that day, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I personally experienced the presence of the one living God of heaven—the King of kings and Lord of lords. The deep touch of the Holy Spirit reached my heart and completely transformed my life.
At that time, I was attending a counseling training program in Kirtipur led by Dr. Timothy Aryal. During the training, a servant of God named Dr. Charles from Kenya (Africa) was teaching counseling sessions. One day after the class ended, he remained seated quietly at the front. I was also sitting silently at the end of the classroom.
Suddenly, my mind became blank, and I felt almost unconscious. At that very moment, I sensed something calm like wind entering the right side of my heart — which I understood to be the Holy Spirit. At the same time, something dark and heavy seemed to leave me like dust or ashes being blown away — which I understood as evil spirits departing from me.
As that wind filled my heart, I experienced deep peace unlike anything I had ever known. I was amazed — I was completely healed. I felt a fire-like power throughout my body. My eyes opened, and I felt light like cotton. From that moment, I became free — completely delivered from evil spirits, powers of darkness, fear, and bondage.
A New Life
That experience was not merely an emotional moment for me, but a deep personal encounter with God. I experienced spiritual freedom, complete healing, and a brand new life. From that day on, I began a new journey in the Lord Jesus Christ. Since then, my life has been entirely transformed. I no longer live under the burden of fear or bondage as I once did. I have experienced spiritual, emotional, and physical healing.
”Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17
Now I share this good news that true peace, forgiveness of sins, salvation, and eternal life are found only in Jesus Christ. As He said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6
”For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
Jesus came to set people free from sin, to give sight to the blind, and to bring freedom to the broken and oppressed. People search for hope and fulfillment in many things, but the true thirst of the soul can only be satisfied in God. True life, true joy, and true salvation are found in Him alone.
